Forbes Digital Plaza
In 2014, the OBID will unveil the first installation project for Innovation Oakland, slated to be constructed in the open plaza at the corner of Forbes Avenue and South Bouquet Street in the heart of Oakland’s retail district. The site has been generously donated by the University of Pittsburgh and grant support for the project has been provided by UPMC, Pitt, Carlow University, the Duquesne Light Corporation, the Heinz Endowments and the Richard King Mellon Foundation. As the showpiece for Innovation Oakland, the Forbes Plaza project calls for the construction of a series of elements that have been designed to showcase what a 21st century space will look like.

Twice a year, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police sponsors an opportunity for members of the community to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the Police Bureau.  The Pittsburgh Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) brings the police and the community close together in a setting that offers a sample of police training to each participant.

Participants receive three hours of training one evening each week for 15 weeks in many of the varied functions of law enforcement.  They experience some of the highlights of police training and are exposed to the operations of the police bureau.

The next session of the CPA will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at the Pittsburgh Brashear High School, 590 Crane Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.  The program will be held each Tuesday evening, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for 15 weeks.

All applications must be received by August 21, 2015.

From Zone 4 Police:
Attention young Pittsburgh entrepreneurs: Are you hosting a lemonade stand before you head back to school in a few weeks? If so, we’d love to know about it!
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is excited to participate in #CopsLoveLemonadeStands!
We are asking our community to let us know if you see a stand or if your kids are having a lemonade stand. Send us the details of your lemonade stand (dates/times/location) or if you see one by leaving a comment on our Facebook page, sending us a private Facebook message, tweeting at @PghPolice or your Zone's Twitter account, or simply emailing emily.schaffer@pittsburghpa.gov
Though we can’t promise an officer will be available to stop by because of other calls for service, we will make every effort to visit each lemonade stand!
